This man tells Philip to reopen the files on three of his cases that wouldn’t add up or submit to a rational explanation. Then Philip is astonished when this man contacts him out of the blue, revealing that his disappearance was to due a personal crisis, a belief that the supernatural might be real after all.

Philip himself grew up hero-worshipping a 70s TV personality who was a debunker in much the way he is now, but who disappeared at the height of his fame – like a Lucan or a John Stonehouse – and was considered dead. But he is also in flight from a guilty and unhappy childhood: a father with an observant Jewish faith, who was heavy-handed with Philip and his older sister. Nyman plays the lead: professor Philip Goodman, a lecturer, TV celebrity and paranormal debunker who is an atheist and rationalist, driven to expose hoaxes and frauds. But Nyman and Dyson pull it off with tremendous verve. The action is wrapped up with a time-honoured narrative trick that has been with us since cinema’s earliest days.
On screen, it was the subtler touches I found more disturbing: the strange dreary worlds and interiors with a putrefying wintry light: a seaside caravan park, a crepuscular pub in the middle of the day, a blank modern church. I never saw Ghost Stories in the theatre but I wonder if the broader, brasher moments might have been more effective live. Writer-directors Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson have adapted it from their colossally successful stage show: Nyman is the actor, writer and magician who has devised productions for Derren Brown Jeremy Dyson is the actor, comedy writer and co-creator of The League of Gentlemen. Each story is made individually stranger and tinglier by the way the film allows you to notice an overarching narrative between them, becoming increasingly visible through the uncanny accumulation of coincidental detail. It’s an anthology of creepy supernatural tales in the intensely English tradition of Amicus portmanteau movies from the 1960s, such as Dr Terror’s House of Horrors, or the Ealing classic Dead of Night. (This story is fake but there was a murder similar to this one in another state it is called the axe murder.Ghost Stories is a barnstormer of an entertainment, a fairground ride with dodgy brakes. if you bring a girl with you she will be confused and nothing will happen. If he tries to comfort her she will be happy. she dropped the axe and realized her wedding gown was stained red.she picked up a cheese knife from their cheese tray and cut her wrists until she bled to death.to this day some people in Stillwater Oklahoma see her inside the chapel and she lures a handsome man in the chapel with soft sobs. he stopped mid sentence saying “what are you -“before he could finish the sentence he was saying ,she hacked off his head also. her fiance realized what had happened and woke up. she walked closer and closer to them, and she hacked off her sisters head. she walked to her tool shed and she grabbed her sister’s axe.she ran with the axe back to her sister’s room. disgusted she ran out of her sister’s bedroom and into her backyard. she also looked at her sister hand.a 24 carat diamond ring. she looked at her fiance’s hand and realize that he had a wedding band on his left hand. she realized that her door was standing open curious she entered,she walked to her sister’s bedroom and realized that her fiance and her were laying there sleeping. she rushed out of the Chapel and ran to her sisters house.
She got very angry with him so on the wedding day she was at the altar, he didn’t show up.she wondered but she didn’t say anything she just sat there and waited.at the end of the wedding everyone was starting to leave he still didn’t show up. the bride was very very curious so she questioned her fiance about it.he said nothing. Listen in the 1920 era there was a man and woman set to get married in the chapel in stillwater oklahoma she felt suspicious about her very attractive sister and her fiance cheating on each on her.
